Amendment Notification for Bye Election to the Council of States from Madhya Pradesh

L.-33004/99 The Gazette of India No. 175] CG-DL-E-20082024-256495 EXTRAORDINARY PART II-Section 3-Sub-section (iii) PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY NEW DELHI, TUESDAY, AUGUST 20, 2024/SHRAVANA 29, 1946 5280 GI/2024 ELECTION COMMISSION OF INDIA NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 20h August, 2024 Ο.Ν. 186(E).—WHEREAS, the Commission, vide its Notification No. 100/CS-MP/08/2024 (1), dated 14th August, 2024, had notified the schedule for bye election to the Council of States from Madhya Pradesh; and WHEREAS, the last date for withdrawal of candidatures in respect of State of Madhya Pradesh for the above election was fixed as 26th August, 2024; and WHEREAS, the Government of Madhya Pradesh vide notification dated 14.08.2024 declared 26.08.2024, a public holiday under N. I. Act, 1881 which is also the date fixed for last date of withdrawal for candidatures for the ongoing bye election to the Council of States from Madhya Pradesh; and WHEREAS, the Commission, after taking into consideration the matter, has decided to re-schedule the last date for withdrawal of candidatures for the said election to 27.08.2024; Now, therefore, the Commission, in exercise of its powers conferred under Section 39 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, hereby directs that the following amendment shall be made in its Notification No. 100/CS- MP/08/2024 (1), dated 14th August, 2024, namely; For the existing entries in sub clause (c) of clause (B), the following entry shall be substituted: "(c) the 27th August, 2024 (Tuesday), as the last date for the withdrawal of candidatures;" [F.
