By notification S.O. 179(E) dated 16th January 2024, the Ministry of Home Affairs recorded that Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, Jammu and Kashmir, had been declared an unlawful association vide notification S.O. 5532(E) dated 31st December 2023, and, exercising powers under sub-section (1) of section 5 read with sub-section (1) of section 4 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 (37 of 1967), constituted the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Tribunal, consisting of Justice Sachin Datta, Judge of the High Court of Delhi, for the purpose of adjudicating whether or not there is sufficient cause for declaring Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, Jammu and Kashmir, to be an unlawful association; the notification was signed by Praveen Vashista, Additional Secretary, under file number F. No. 14017/2/2024-NI-MFO.

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 5 read with sub-section (1) of section 4 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 (37 of 1967), the Central Government hereby constitutes the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Tribunal consisting of Justice Sachin Datta, Judge, High Court of Delhi, for the purpose of adjudicating whether or not there is sufficient cause for declaring the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, Jammu and Kashmir as an unlawful association.
