The Ministry of External Affairs (Overseas Employment and Protector General of Emigrants Division) issued Notification S.O. 767(E) on 16th January, 2026, exercising powers conferred by Section 21 and sub-section (1) of Section 41 of the Emigration Act, 1983 (31 of 1983). The Central Government, having been satisfied with the method of recruitment, conditions of employment, and standard conditions of living and working provided to emigrants, has exempted employers in 191 specified countries from the operation of sub-section (b) of Section 16 of the Emigration Act, 1983.
