Issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on 11th January 2024 (S.O. 146(E)), this notification recites that the Central Government, under Section 3(1) and the proviso to Section 3(3) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 (37 of 1967), had declared the Muslim League Jammu Kashmir (Masarat Alam faction) an unlawful association vide S.O. 5462(E) dated 27th December 2023, and, in exercise of powers under Section 42 of the same Act, now directs that all powers exercisable by the Central Government under Sections 7 and 8 of the Act in relation to that association shall also be exercised by the State Governments and the Union Territory Administration; it is signed by Praveen Vashista, Additional Secretary, under F. No. 14017/23/2023-NI-MFO.

L.-33004/99 The Gazette of India CG-DL-E-11012024-251270 EXTRAORDINARY PART II-Section 3-Sub-section (ii) PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. 139] NEW DELHI, THURSDAY, JANUARY 11, 2024/PAUSHA 21, 1945 MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 11th January, 2024 S.O. 146(E).—Whereas, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) and proviso to sub-section (3) of section 3 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 (37 of 1967), the Central Government declared the Muslim League Jammu Kashmir (Masarat Alam faction), to be an unlawful association vide notification number S.O. 5462(E), dated the 27th December, 2023, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part-II, Section 3, Sub-section (ii), dated the 27th December, 2023. Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 42 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, the Central Government hereby directs that all powers exercisable by it under section 7 and section 8 of the said Act shall be exercised also by the State Governments and the Union Territory Administration in relation to the above said unlawful association.
