The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), acting under the authority of clause (b) of sub-section (1) of Sections 12 and 13, and in conjunction with clause 1 of Notification No. 145(E) dated 21st February, 1991, issued under Section 23 of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 (29 of 1986), has issued Notification No. Legal 42(3)/87 on 7th October, 2025. This notification updates Notification No. Legal/42(3)/87, dated 21.05.2025, by inserting a new entry at Serial No. 200. It officially recognizes M/s Central Laboratory Gujarat Pollution Control Board, situated at Paryavaran Bhavan, Sector-10 A, Gandhinagar -382010, Gujarat, as an 'Environmental Laboratory' for carrying out functions specified under the Act, with a validity period extending until 10/07/2028. The laboratory is recognized for a broad spectrum of parameter groups, including Physical Tests, Inorganic (General, Non-metallic, Trace Metals), Organics (General, Trace), Microbiological Tests, Toxicological Tests, Biological Tests of Water and Wastewater, Characterization of Hazardous Waste, Soil/Sludge/Sediment and Solid Waste, Ambient Air/Fugitive Emissions, Stack Gases/Source Emission, Noise level, and Meteorological Monitoring. Concurrently, six individuals—Dr. Suresh Kumar N. Agravat, Sh. H.A Rathod, Niharika R Vasava, Dr. M. M. Page, H. D. Sonara, and S. A. Patel—are designated as Government Analysts for sample analysis, with their appointments valid until superannuation or a specified period, whichever comes first. The original principal notification was S.O. 728(E), dated 21.7.1987, which has been subsequently amended fifty times, including the last amendment prior to this notification being No. Legal 42(3)/87 Dated 21.05.2025.
