Detailed Summary

The Ministry of Home Affairs, under S.O. 1186(E) dated 8th March 2024 (F. No. 14017/22/2024/NI-MFO), recites that the Central Government had, in exercise of powers under sub-sections (1) and (3) of section 3 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 (37 of 1967), declared the Muslim Conference Jammu and Kashmir (Sumji faction) (MCJK-S) an unlawful association vide notification S.O. 935(E) dated 28th February 2024, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part-II, Section-3, Sub-section (ii), dated 28th February 2024. Now, in exercise of powers under section 42 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, the Central Government directs that all powers exercisable by it under section 7 and section 8 of the Act shall also be exercised by the State Governments and the Union territory administrations in relation to the said unlawful association.
