The Ministry of Home Affairs (CTCR Division) issued Notification S.O. 116(E) on December 22, 2025, in New Delhi. In exercise of powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 15 of the National Investigation Agency Act, 2008 (34 of 2008), read with sub-section (8) of section 18 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, the Central Government appointed Mr. Urfi Masood Syed, Advocate, as Special Public Prosecutor. His appointment is for conducting trials and other related matters for specific National Investigation Agency (NIA) cases before the NIA Special Court, Mohali. The appointment is for a period of 3 years from the date of publication of this notification or until the completion of the trial of the listed cases, whichever is earlier. The listed NIA cases include RC-18/2019/NIA/DLI, RC-20/2019/NIA/DLI, RC-03/2020/NIA/DLI, RC-07/2020/NIA/DLI, RC-19/2020/NIA/DLI, RC-23/2020/NIA/DLI, RC-01/2021/NIA/DLI, RC-31/2021/NIA/DLI, and RC-01/2022/NIA/DLI.
