Detailed Summary

The Ministry of Home Affairs (CTCR Division) issued two notifications on 5th August 2024. By S.O. 3115(E), in exercise of powers under sub-section (1) of section 15 of the National Investigation Agency Act, 2008 (34 of 2008) read with sub-section (8) of section 18 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, the Central Government extended, for a further period of three years from dates specified against each name (29.06.2024, 05.08.2024 or 12.07.2024), the engagement of 24 named Advocates as Special Public Prosecutors to conduct NIA cases before NIA Special Courts and High Courts in Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Meghalaya and Assam, Jammu, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, and the Union Territory of Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana, including Shri Ashwani Dhiman, Shri Gaurav Sharma, Shri B. Mohan, Ms. Sima Gulati, Shri Kishor Chand Gautam, Shri Kuljeet Singh Pathania, Shri Kaushelendra Pratap Singh, Ms. Anushree Avinash Rasal, Shri Arvind Kumar, Shri Sanjay Kumar Shukla, Shri Raj Kumar Sahay, Shri P. Prasanna Kumar, Shri R. Karthkeyan and Shri Gagandeep Singh Wasu, issued under F. No. 11011/38/2024/NIA. By a separate notification, S.O. 3116(E), also dated 5th August 2024 and issued under the same statutory provisions, the Central Government appointed Shri Gautam Khazanchi, Advocate, as Special Public Prosecutor to conduct the trial and other matters on behalf of the National Investigation Agency in case RC-10/2017/NIA/DLI before the NIA Special Court, Delhi, for three years from the date of publication or until completion of the trial, whichever is earlier, also issued under F. No. 11011/38/2024/NIA. Both notifications were signed by Abhijit Sinha, Joint Secretary.
