This notification, S.O. 475(E), issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on 5th February 2024, directs in exercise of powers under section 42 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 (37 of 1967) that all powers exercisable by the Central Government under sections 7 and 8 of the Act shall also be exercised by the State Governments and Union Territory administrations in relation to the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), which was declared an unlawful association under sub-sections (1) and (3) of section 3 of the Act vide notification S.O. 354(E) dated 29th January 2024, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (ii) of the same date; the notification is signed by Praveen Vashista, Additional Secretary (F.
