Detailed Summary

The Ministry of Home Affairs (CTCR Division), vide Notification S.O. 3615(E) and S.O. 3616(E), both dated 3rd July, 2026, has designated two new Special Courts. In exercise of powers conferred by section 11 of the National Investigation Agency Act, 2008 (34 of 2008), the Central Government, in consultation with the Hon'ble Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court and the Government of Assam, designated the "Special NIA Court at Guwahati" as a Special Court for the trial of Scheduled Offences investigated by the National Investigation Agency, with jurisdiction extending throughout the State of Assam. Similarly, in consultation with the Hon'ble Chief Justice of the Punjab & Haryana High Court and the Government of Punjab, the Central Government designated the "NIA-I at SAS Nagar" as a Special Court for the trial of Scheduled Offences investigated by the National Investigation Agency, with jurisdiction extending throughout the State of Punjab.
