This notification (S.O. 2573(E)) issued by the Ministry of Railways (Railway Board) on 1st July 2024 finalizes acquisition of land for the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor Special Railway Project in Meerut District, Uttar Pradesh. It follows an earlier declaration of intention under Section 20A of the Railways Act, 1989 (24 of 1989), notified as S.O. 3812(E) dated 22nd August 2023, whose substance was published in the newspapers 'Hindustan Times' and 'Dainik Jagran' on 9th September 2023 under Section 20A(4). No objections were received from the public within the specified period, and the Competent Authority submitted its report under Section 20E(1). Exercising powers under Section 20E(1) and in pursuance of Section 20E(2), the Central Government declares that the land specified in the annexed Schedule shall be acquired for the stated purpose, and that upon publication of the notification, the land shall vest absolutely in the Central Government free from all encumbrances. The Schedule lists numerous private agricultural land parcels by Tehsil Sadar, villages Uplehda and Chhajjupur Urf Chhajmalpur, in Meerut District, with Khasra numbers, areas in hectares, and named owners including Sanjay Kumar, Rajeev Kumar, Dharambir, Munesh Kumari and Jaiprakash, among numerous others. NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 1st July, 2024

S.O. 2573(E).—WHEREAS by the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Railways
(Railway Board), vide number S.O.3812 (E), dated the 22th August, 2023, published in the Gazette of India,
Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (ii), dated the 25th August, 2023, (hereinafter referred to as the said
notification) and issued under sub-section (1) of section 20A of the Railways Act, 1989 (24 of 1989) (hereinafter
referred to as the said Act), the Central Government declared its intention to acquire the land specified in the
Schedule annexed to the said notification for the purpose of execution of Special Railway Project, namely, Eastern
Dedicated Freight Corridor in the District of Meerut in the State of Uttar Pradesh;

AND WHEREAS, the substance of the said notification was published in daily newspapers namely
"Hindustan Times” and “Dainik Jagran", dated the 9th September, 2023, under sub-section (4) of section 20A of
the said Act;

AND WHEREAS, no objections were received from the public in respect of the said notification within
the specified period;

AND WHEREAS, in pursuance of sub-section (1) of section 20E of the said Act, the competent
authority has submitted its report to the Central Government;

NOW THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1), and in pursuance of sub-
section (2), of section 20E of the said Act, the Central Government,-

(i) upon receipt of the said report of the competent authority, hereby declares that the lands specified
in the Schedule annexed hereto shall be acquired for the aforesaid purpose; and

(ii) hereby declares that on publication of this notification, the lands specified in the Schedule annexed
hereto shall vest absolutely upon it free from all encumbrances.
