Functions of the Committee The function of the Committee will be to render advice to the Ministry of Rural Development on the implementation of various provisions related to Official Language contained in the Constitution, Official Language Act/Rules, decisions of the Kendriya Hindi Samiti and the instructions issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (Department of Official Language) in this regard and on the matters related to progressive use of Hindi for Official purposes. 3. Tenure. The tenure of the Samiti will be three years from the date of its constitution, provided that: - a. Member of Parliament who is a member of the Samiti shall cease to be a member of the Samiti as soon as he ceases to be a Member of Parliament. b. Ex-officio members of the Samiti shall continue as members as long as they hold offices by virtue of which they are members of the Samiti. c. If a vacancy arises on the Samiti due to resignation, death, etc., of a member, the member so nominated in that capacity shall hold office for the residual term of the Samiti. d. Tenure of the Committee can be extended or curtailed in special circumstances. 4. General The Headquarters of the Samiti shall be at New Delhi, but it may hold its meetings at any other station also. 5. Travelling & Other Allowances The non-official members will be paid travelling and daily allowances for attending the meeting of Hindi Salahkar Samiti as per guidelines contained in O.M. No.11/20034/4/86-OL (P-2) dated 22 January, 1987 of the Department of Official Language and according to the rules and rates as amended by the Govt. of India from time to time.
