THE LADAKH AUTONOMOUS HILL DEVELOPMENT
COUNCILS (AMENDMENT) REGULATION, 2025
No. 2 OF 2025
Promulgated by the President in the Seventy-sixth Year of the Republic of India.
A Regulation further to amend the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Councils
Act, 1997.
In exercise of the powers conferred by article 240 of the Constitution read with
sub-section (2) of section 58 of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019,
the President is pleased to promulgate the following Regulation made by her:-
1. (1) This Regulation may be called the Ladakh Autonomous Hill
Development Councils (Amendment) Regulation, 2025.
Short title and
commencement.
(2) It shall come into force on such date as the Central Government may, by
notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.
2. In section 4 of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Councils
Act, 1997, after sub-section (1), the following sub-sections shall be inserted,
namely:-
Amendment of
Act XXXI of
1997.
"(1A) Not less than one-third of the total number of seats in the Council
shall be reserved for women and such seats may be allotted by rotation to
different territorial constituencies.
(1B) The rotation of constituencies reserved for women referred to in
sub-section (1A) shall be made on the basis of serial number allotted to each
constituencies by notification in the Official Gazette.".
