Core Purpose

Declares 'Meluri' district of Nagaland as a 'disturbed area' under the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 for six months starting April 1, 2025.

Detailed Summary

The Ministry of Home Affairs notification declares the district of 'Meluri' in Nagaland as a 'disturbed area' under Section 3 of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958. This declaration is effective for six months from April 1, 2025, unless withdrawn earlier. This action is a partial modification of notification S.O. 1536(E) dated March 30, 2025, which had previously declared 8 districts and 21 police stations in 5 other districts of Nagaland as 'disturbed areas'. The creation of 'Meluri' district from 'Phek' district in November 2024 necessitated this update to include the newly formed district in the 'disturbed area' designation.
