Detailed Summary

The Office of the Divisional Commissioner (Revenue), Census Branch, Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi, issued a notification on October 29, 2025 (F.No. F. 36(146)/Census/Div. Comm/2025/934) under Rule 8 of the Census Rules, 1990. This notification publishes the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs (Office of the Registrar General of India) notification SO 4698(E) dated October 16, 2025. In exercise of powers conferred by Section 17A of the Census Act, 1948 (37 of 1948) read with Rule 6D of the Census Rules, 1990, the Central Government extends the provisions of the said Act for the conduct of a pre-test of the first phase of Census of India, 2027. This pre-test, specifically for Houselisting and Housing Census, will be conducted in selected sample areas across all States and Union territories from November 10, 2025, to November 30, 2025. An option for self-enumeration will also be available from November 1, 2025, to November 7, 2025. Governor of National Capital Territory of Delhi is pleased to publish the following notification of Govt. of India, Ministry of Home Affairs (Office of the Registrar General of India), New Delhi dated 16 October, 2025. SO 4698(E).- In exercise of the powers conferred by section 17A of the Census Act, 1948 (37 of 1948) read with rule 6D of the Census Rules, 1990, the Central Government hereby extends the provisions of the said Act for conduct of pre-test of first phase of Census of India, 2027. The pre-test of first phase of Census of India, 2027 that is Houselisting and Housing Census in selected sample areas shall be conducted from 10th November, 2025 to 30th November, 2025 in all States and Union territories. There shall also be an option for self-enumeration from 1st November, 2025 to 7th November, 2025. [F.
