The Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi, Department of Archaeology, issued Notification F.No..3 (10)/2025/Archy/ 1114 on 11th June, 2025. In pursuance of Hon'ble Supreme Court orders dated 18/02/2025, 25/03/2025, 08/04/2025, 14/05/2025, and 16/05/2025 in SLP (C) 12213/2019 'Rajiv Suri Vs Archaeological Survey of India and Ors', the Gumti of Shaikh Ali monument, located in Defence Colony, South District, Delhi, with an area of 150 Sq. Meter and owned by L&DO, Govt. of India, is declared a protected monument under Section 4 of The Delhi Ancient and Historical Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 2004 (Delhi Act 9 of 2005). Furthermore, under Section 17 of the same Act, an area up to fifty meters from the monument's protected limits is declared a prohibited area for construction and mining, and an area beyond that up to one hundred meters is designated as a regulated area, where such activities require government permission and adherence to rules. The notification was issued by VIVEK AGARWAL, Director (Archaeology), by Order and in the Name of the Lt. Governor of the National Capital Territory of Delhi.

No. 92 PART IV GOVERNMENT OF THE NATIONAL CAPITAL TERRITORY OF DELHI DEPARTMENT OF ARCHAEOLOGY NOTIFICATION Delhi, the 11th June, 2025 F.No..3 (10)/2025/Archy/ 1114—Whereas the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi in pursuance to the directions of Hon'ble Supreme Court of India vide Orders dated 18/02/2025, 25/03/2025, 08/04/2025, 14/05/2025 and 16/05/2025 in the matter SLP (C) 12213/2019 titled 'Rajiv Suri Vs Archaeological Survey of India and Ors' hereby declares the Gumti of Shaikh Ali monument specified in the Schedule and Site Plan annexed hereto, to be a protected monument in exercise of the powers conferred by the Section 4 of The Delhi Ancient and Historical Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 2004 (Delhi Act 9 of 2005) Further, in exercise of the powers conferred by the Section 17 of The Delhi Ancient and Historical Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 2004 (Delhi Act 9 of 2005), the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi hereby declares an area upto fifty meters from the protected limits of the aforesaid monument specified in the Site Plan and the Schedule annexed hereto as prohibited area for any construction and mining activities near or adjoining protected monument and further beyond it up to one hundred meters as regulated area in which construction and mining activities can be undertaken only after getting permission of the Government and further subject to any Rules made under this Act.
