The Revenue Department (Census Branch) of the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi, through its notification dated 3rd September, 2026 (F. No. 36(146)/Census/Div.Comm./2025/1027), republished the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs (Office of the Registrar General India) Notification S.O. 4505(E) dated 14th August, 2026. This republication was done in pursuance of sub-rule (ia) of Rule 8 of Census Rules, 1990, read with the Ministry of Home Affairs' Notification No. 2/1/60-Judl.II dated 20 April, 1960. The S.O. 4505(E) notification, issued by the Central Government in exercise of powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 8 of the Census Act, 1948 (37 of 1948), instructs and directs Census Officers to ask all persons residing within their local limits questions pertaining to 40 specific items for collecting information through the Household Schedule in connection with the Census of India 2027. These items include, but are not limited to, Name, Relationship to head, Sex, Date of Birth and Age, Marital Status, Nationality, Religion, Scheduled Caste/Tribe/Caste, Disability, Mother Tongue and other languages known, Literacy and digital literacy status, Educational level, Economic activity, Occupation, Birth place, Migration details, Permanent Residential Address, Number of children surviving/ever born/born alive during last year (for relevant women), Place of Covid-19 Vaccination, Total number of Bank Accounts, Mobile Number (if available), Aadhaar Number (if available), Voter ID Number (if available), and Passport Number (if Indian Passport holder). The notification was issued by Mritunjay Kumar Narayan, Registrar General and Census Commissioner, India, and republished by order and in the name of the Lt. Governor of the National Capital Territory of Delhi by Neeraj Semwal, Secretary (Revenue).

Mother Tongue and other languages known 15. Literacy and digital literacy status 16. Status of attendance in educational institution 17. Highest educational level attained and Stream/Discipline 18. Worked any time during last year 19. Category of economic activity 20. Occupation 21. Nature of industry, trade or service 22. Class of worker 23.
