The Ministry of Railways (South Eastern Railway), through its Railway Safety Projects Department, issued Notification S.O. 2966(E) on June 6, 2026, in Kolkata. In exercise of powers conferred by clause (7A) of Section 2 of the Railways Act, 1989, the Central Government has authorized designated officers to act as the Competent Authority for various Special Railway Projects. These officers are responsible for the execution, maintenance, management, and operation of these projects, effective from the date of the notification's publication in the Official Gazette. For West Bengal, the ADM(LA) of Paschim Medinipur District is authorized for 15 projects, the ADM(LA) of Jhargram District for 3 projects, the ADM(LA) of Purba Medinipur District for 2 projects, and the ADM(LA) of Purulia District for 2 projects. These projects primarily involve the construction of Road Over Bridges (ROB) in lieu of various Level Crossings across multiple railway stations within these districts. For Odisha, the Tahasildar of Rasagobindapur is authorized for the construction of a Road Over Bridge in lieu of Level Crossing No.60 (Mayurbhanj District Portion) between Amarda Road - Basta Railway Station in the Mayurbhanj District. The notification is issued under F. NOTIFICATION
Kolkata, the 6th June, 2026
S.O. 2966(E). — In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (7A) of Section 2 of the Railways Act, 1989, the Central Government hereby authorizes the officers mentioned in column (2) of the Table below to perform the functions of the Competent Authority in respect of the Railway Project (Special Railway Project) as mentioned in column (4) of the Table, for execution, maintenance, management and operation in the state as mentioned in column (3) of the said Table, with effect from the date of publication of this notification in the Official Gazette.
