                Detailed Summary
            

            
The Ministry of Railways (Railway Board), through Notification S.O. 3944(E) dated 17th July, 2026, declares the acquisition of land for the Special Railway Project, namely, the 4th Line between Barejadi – Nandej (Geratpur) – Sanand (38.20 KM) in the District of Ahmedabad, Gujarat. This declaration follows a previous intention notification, G.S.R. 490(E), dated 22nd July, 2025, published under sub-section (1) of section 20A of the Railways Act, 1989 (24 of 1989). The substance of the intention notification was published in local newspapers, including "The Indian Express" (English) on 26th July, 2025, as required by sub-section (4) of section 20A of the said Act. Four objections were received, considered, and disallowed by the competent authority. Following the submission of the competent authority's report, in exercise of powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 20E of the Railways Act, 1989, the Central Government declares that the land specified in the annexed Schedule shall be acquired. Furthermore, in pursuance of sub-section (2) of section 20E, upon publication of this notification, the land, totaling 44143 sq.mts. of private non-agriculture and agriculture land in Kaneti village, Sanand Taluka, Ahmedabad District, shall vest absolutely in the Central Government free from all encumbrances.

NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 17th July, 2026

S.O. 3944(E).—Whereas, by the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Railways
(Railway Board), number G.S.R. 490(E), dated the 22nd July, 2025 published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary,
Part II, Section 3, Sub – section (ii), dated the 23rd July, 2025 and issued under sub-section (1) of section 20A of the
Railways Act, 1989 (24 of 1989) (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), the Central Government declared its
intention to acquire the land specified in the Schedule annexed to the said notification for the purpose of execution of
the Special Railway Project, namely, 4TH LINE BETWEEN BAREJADI – NANDEJ (GERATPUR) – SANAND
(38.20 KM) IN THE DISTRICT OF AHMEDABAD in the State of Gujarat.

And, whereas, the substance of the said notification has been published in the daily local news papers,
namely, "The Indian Express" (English), dated the 26st July, 2025, “Sandesh” (Gujarati) dated the 26st July, 2025 and
"Rajstan Patrika" (Hindi) dated the 26st July, 2025 under sub-section (4) of section 20A of the said Act;

And, whereas, 4 (Four) numbers of objection have been received and the same have been considered and
disallowed by the competent authority;

And whereas, in pursuance of sub-section (1) of section 20E of the said Act, the competent authority has
submitted its report to the Central Government.

Now, therefore, upon receipt of the report of the Competent Authority and in exercise of the powers
conferred by sub-section (1) of section 20E of the said Act, the Central Government hereby declares that the land
specified in the Schedule annexed hereto shall be acquired for the aforesaid purpose.

And further, in pursuance of sub-section (2) of section 20E of the said Act, the Central Government hereby
declares that on publication of this notification in the Official Gazette, the land specified in the Schedule annexed
hereto shall vest absolutely in the Central Government free from all encumbrances.
