The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, issued Notification S.O. 6093(E) on December 29, 2025, reiterating the nationwide prohibition on the manufacture, possession, sale, use, and import of electric detonators, classified as explosive of Class 6 Division 3 or UN Class 1 Division 1, effective from July 1, 2025. This notification is in continuation of previous S.O. Numbers 4255(E) dated September 29, 2023, 1563(E) dated April 2, 2025, 2920(E) dated July 1, 2025, and 4524(E) dated October 3, 2025. Exceptions to this prohibition include suitable detonators for oil well logging operations by oil and gas operator companies for oil exploration and production, which are permitted until December 31, 2027. Additionally, the manufacture of low resistance ED is permitted for the production of Electronic Point Detonating Fuse specifically for supply to the Indian Army until December 31, 2026.
