The Ministry of Finance (Department of Economic Affairs), under G.S.R. 800(E) dated 30th October, 2025, published the Coinage (Issue of Commemorative Coin on the occasion of Two Hundredth birth anniversary of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati) Rules, 2025. These rules, enacted by the Central Government using powers from clauses (d) and (e) of sub-section (2) of section 24 of the Coinage Act, 2011 (11 of 2011), govern the issuance of a Two Hundred Rupees denomination commemorative coin. The coin will be circular, 44 millimeters in diameter, with 200 serrations, and composed of 60% Copper, 20% Nickel, and 20% Zinc. Its standard weight is 32 Grams, with allowed remedies in composition (Copper 59%-61%, Nickel/Zinc 19%-21%) and weight (31.2 to 32.8 grams). The obverse design features the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar with "INDIA" and the denomination "200", while the reverse bears an image of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati, inscribed with "200TH BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF MAHARSHI DAYANAND SARASWATI" and the years '1824', '2024', and '2025'. Short title and commencement.— (1) These rules may be called the Coinage (Issue of Commemorative Coin on the occasion of Two Hundredth birth anniversary of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati) Rules, 2025. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. Denomination of coin.— The coin of Two Hundred Rupees denomination shall be coined at the Mint for issue under the authority of the Central Government to commemorate the occasion of Two Hundredth birth anniversary of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati. 3. Nickel - 20 per cent. Zinc - 20 per cent. | 4. Design.- The design of the coin shall be as specified in the First Schedule annexed to these rules. 5. Standard weight and remedy allowed- The standard weight of the coin of denomination referred in rule 2 to commemorate the occasion of Two Hundredth birth anniversary of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati and the remedy allowed in making of such coin shall be as specified in the Second Schedule annexed to these rules. FIRST SCHEDULE [See Rule 4] TWO HUNDRED RUPEES OBVERSE: This face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the centre with the legend “सत्यमेव जयते" inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word "भारत" in Devanagari script and on the right periphery with the word "INDIA" in English. It shall also bear the Rupee symbol "₹" and denominational value "200" in the international numerals below the Lion Capitol. REVERSE: This face of coin shall bear the image of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati at the centre. The year '2025' in international numeral shall be inscribed below the image. The inscription "महर्षि दयानंद सरस्वती की 200वीं जयंती " shall be written in Devanagari script on the upper periphery of the coin and the inscription “200TH BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF MAHARSHI DAYANAND SARASWATI” in English shall be written on the lower periphery of the coin. The year '1824' in international numerals shall be inscribed on the left side of the image and the year '2024' in international numerals shall be inscribed on the right side of the image. Image of fire pit shall be depicted on both left and right periphery of the coin, dividing Hindi and English text inscription.
