This appointment is made by the Central Government utilizing powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 17 of the Sick Textile Undertakings (Nationalization) Act, 1974 (57 of 1974); sub-Section (1) of Section 6 of the British India Corporation Ltd (Acquisition of Shares) Act, 1981 (29 of 1981); sub-Section (1) of Section 15 of the Swadeshi Cotton Mills Company Limited (Acquisition and Transfer of Undertakings) Act, 1986 (30 of 1986); and sub-Section (1) of Section 17 of the Textile Undertakings (Nationalization) Act, 1995 (39 of 1995). The notification specifies that the Commissioner of Payments shall exercise the conferred powers and perform duties within the local limits of the whole of India. The notification is identified by F.
