The Ministry of Textiles, Office of the Jute Commissioner, issued Notification S.O. 3705(E) on 8th July, 2026, from Kolkata, withdrawing several prior notifications with immediate effect. These previous orders, initially published as S.O. 4577(E) dated 24th September, 2025, in the Gazette of India Part II, Section 3(ii), and subsequently modified by S.O. 5(E) dated 18th December 2025, S.O. 310 (E) dated 19th January 2026, S.O. 1007(E) dated 24th February 2026, S.O. 1493 (E) dated 20th March 2026, and S.O. 2050 (E) dated 20th April 2026, were issued in exercise of powers under Clause 6(1)(iii) and Clause 5 of the Jute and Jute Textiles Control Order, 2016. These directives mandated raw jute balers/traders/dealers/agencies/stockists to maintain a NIL stock and Jute Mills/Manufacturing units of Jute Goods not to hold raw jute stock exceeding 45 days' consumption. The withdrawal, effective immediately, was made by Neeraj Kulhari, Deputy Jute Commissioner, after considering the start of a new jute season and the expected market scenario of raw jute.
