ITR-4 is for Individuals, HUFs, and Firms (other than LLP) with total income up to Rs.50 lakh, income from business and profession computed under sections 44AD, 44ADA or 44AE, and long-term capital gains under section 112A up to Rs. 1.25 lakh. Both forms specify conditions for non-eligibility, such as being a company Director or investing in unlisted equity shares. The maximum loss from House Property that can be set-off is INR 2,00,000. It also outlines details for presumptive income under sections 44AD, 44ADA, and 44AE, including turnover limits (e.g., Rs.2 Crores for 44AD, extended to Rs.3 Crores under certain conditions, and Rs.50 Lakhs for 44ADA, extended to Rs.75 Lakhs under certain conditions), and mandatory tax audits if income is below prescribed percentages. The original Income-tax Rules, 1962, were published vide S.O. 969 (E), dated March 26, 1962, and last amended vide GSR 158(E), dated March 05, 2026. The notification is signed by PRADEEP SHARMA, Dy.
