In exercise of powers under clauses (d) and (e) of sub-section (2) of section 24 of the Coinage Act, 2011 (11 of 2011), the Ministry of Finance (Department of Economic Affairs) notified the Coinage (Issue of commemorative coin on the occasion of Platinum Jubilee of Armed Forces Medical College, Pune) Rules, 2023 vide G.S.R. 867(E) dated 29 November 2023, effective from the date of publication in the Official Gazette. The rules provide for coining a Seventy Five Rupees denomination commemorative coin, circular in shape with an outside diameter of 44 millimeters, 200 serrations, composed of silver alloy (80 per cent silver, 20 per cent copper), with a standard weight of 35 grams (permissible weight variance 34.65 to 35.35 grams; silver content variance 797 to 803 per 1000). The First Schedule specifies the coin design: the obverse bears the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar with the legend "Satyameva Jayate", "Bharat" in Devnagari, "INDIA" in English, the Rupee symbol, and the denominational value "75"; the reverse bears the logo of Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, the inscription "Armed Forces Medical College, Pune", the motto "IN PURSUIT OF EXCELLENCE", and the years "1948" and "2023" flanking the numeral "75". The notification bears F. No. 02/31/2023-Coin and is signed by Aparna Bhatia, Adviser.

Short title and commencement .- (1) These rules may be called the Coinage (Issue of commemorative coin on the occasion of Platinum Jubilee of Armed Forces Medical College, Pune ) Rules, 2023. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. Denomination of coin .- The coin of Seventy Five Rupees denomination shall be coined at the Mint for issue under the authority of the Central Government on the occasion of Platinum Jubilee of Armed Forces Medical College, Pune . 3. Dimension and composition of coin .- The coin of the denomination mentioned in rule 2 shall conform to the following dimension s and composition, namely: - Denomination of coin Shape and outside diameter Number of serrations Metal composition (1) (2) (3) (4) Seventy Five Rupees Circular 44 millimeter 200 Silver alloy Silver - 80 per cent. Copper - 20 per cent. 4. Design .- The design of the coin shall be as specified in the First Schedule of these rules. 5. Standard weight and remedy allowed .- The standard weight of the coin referred to in rule 2 and the remedy allowed in making of such coin shall be as specified in the Second Schedule to these rules. THE FIRST SCHEDULE (See rule 4) SEVENTY FIVE RUPEES OBVERSE: This face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the center wi th the legend “ सत्यमेि ियते ” inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word “ भारत ” in Devnagari script and on the right periphery with the word “ INDIA ” in English. It shall also bear the Rupee symbol “₹” and denominational value “ 75” in the i nternational numerals below the Lion Capitol. REVERSE: This face of coin shall bear the image of the logo of Armed Forces Medical College, Pune in the center of the coin script shall be written on the upper periphery . The inscription “Armed Forces Medical College, Pune ” in English shall be written on the lower periphery. “सा जिद्या या जिमुिये ” in devnagari script and “IN PURSUIT OF EXCELLENCE ” in English shall be written below the logo. The year “1948” and “2023” in international numerals shall be flanked on left and right side of the international numeral “75” respectively. THE SECOND SCHEDULE (See rule 5) Denom ination of coin Standard weight Remedy allowed In composition In standard weight (1) (2) (3) (4) Seventy Five Rupees 35 Grams 3/1000 plus or minus for Silver, that is to say the Silver content may vary from 797 to 803 per 1000. 1/100th plus or minus, that is to say, the weight could be 34.65 grams to 35.35 grams.
