The Ministry of Labour and Employment issued S.O. 2790(E) dated 27th June 2023, under the proviso to sub-clause (vi) of clause (n) of section 2 of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (14 of 1947), declaring that industrial establishments engaged in manufacturing or producing Nuclear Fuel and Components, Heavy Water and Allied Chemicals, and Atomic Energy, covered under item 28 of the First Schedule to the Act, shall continue to be a public utility service for a further period of six months with effect from 28th June 2023. The status had last been declared for six months from 28th December 2022 via notification S.O. 6106(E) dated 28th December 2022, and the Central Government found the extension necessary in the public interest. 4054 GI/202 3 (1) EXTRAORDINARY PART II —Section 3 —Sub-section ( ii) PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. 2670] NEW DELHI, TUES DAY , JUNE 27, 2023/ASHADHA 6, 194 5 CG-DL-E-27062023-246839 MINISTRY OF LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 27th June, 202 3 S.O. 2790 (E).—Whereas the Central Government is satisfied that the public interest so requires that the services engaged in the industrial establishments manufacturing or producing Nuclear Fuel and Components, Heavy Water and Allied Chemicals and Atomic Energy, which are covered under item 28 of the First Schedule to the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (14 of 1947), to be a public utility service for the purposes of the said Act; And whereas the Central Governmen t has lastly declared the said industrial establishments to be a public utility service for the purposes of the said Act for a period of six months from the 28th December , 202 2 vide notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Labour and Empl oyment number S.O. 6106 (E), dated the 28th December , 202 2; And whereas the Central Government is of the opinion that public interest requires the extension of the public utility service status to the said industrial establishments for a further period of six months; Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to sub -clause (vi) of clause (n) of section 2 of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (14 of 1947), the Central Government hereby declares the services engaged in the said industrial establish ments to be a public utility service for the purposes of the said Act for a period of six months with effect from 28th June, 2023.
