This notification, S.O. 1020(E), issued by the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying (Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying) on February 23, 2026, amends the First Schedule of the Indian Veterinary Council Act, 1984 (52 of 1984). The amendment is made by the Central Government, after consulting the Veterinary Council of India, in exercise of powers conferred by sub-section (2) of section 15 of the said Act, read with sub-rule (5) of rule 10 of the Veterinary Council of India (Procedure for recognition and de-recognition of Veterinary Colleges and Veterinary Qualifications) Rules, 2017. Specifically, it inserts a new entry at serial number 95 under the sub-heading "DEGREES" in the First Schedule. This new entry recognizes the "Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry" (B.V.Sc. and A.H.) qualification granted by Tantia University for Sri Ganganagar Veterinary College, Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan. This qualification shall be a recognized Veterinary qualification only when granted on or after December 15, 2027. The First Schedule to the Indian Veterinary Council Act, 1984, was previously amended by notification S.O. 5313(E) dated November 20, 2025.
