In exercise of powers under sub-sections (1) and (2) of section 70 of the Information Technology Act, 2000 (21 of 2000), the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology issued notification S.O. 860(E) dated 26th February 2024 declaring the computer resources relating to the Information and Office Management System, being Critical Information Infrastructure of the National Investigation Agency, and its associated dependencies, as protected systems under the Act. It authorises three categories of persons to access these protected systems: (a) designated NIA employees authorised in writing; (b) team members of contractual managed service providers or third-party vendors authorised in writing for need-based access; and (c) consultants, regulators, government officials, auditors, and stakeholders authorised in writing on a case-to-case basis. L.-33004/99 The Gazette of India CG-DL-E-26022024-252373 EXTRAORDINARY PART II—Section 3—Sub-section (ii) PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. 820] NEW DELHI, MONDAY, FEBRUARY 26, 2024/PHALGUNA 7, 1945 1268 GI/2024 MINISTRY OF ELECTRONICS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 26th February, 2024 S.O. 860(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-sections (1) and (2) of section 70 of the Information Technology Act, 2000 (21 of 2000), the Central Government hereby declares the computer resources relating to the Information and Office Management System, being Critical Information Infrastructure of the National Investigation Agency, and the computer resources of their associated dependencies, to be protected systems for the purposes of the said Act and authorises the following persons to access the protected systems, namely:— (a) any designated employee of the National Investigation Agency authorised in writing by the National Investigation Agency to access the protected system; (b) any team member of contractual managed service provider or third-party vendor who have been authorised in writing by the National Investigation Agency for need-based access; and (c) any consultant, regulator, Government official, auditor and stakeholder authorised in writing by the National Investigation Agency on case to case basis. 2.
