The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (Department of Commerce, SEZ Section) issued Notification S.O. 2053(E) on 21st April, 2026, de-notifying 0.66 hectares from a Sector Specific Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for Information Technology/Information Technology Enabled Services. This SEZ, located at Kadubeesanahalli Village, Taluk Varthur Hobli, Bangalore District, in the State of Karnataka, was originally proposed by M/s. Cessna Garden Developers Private Limited under Section 3 of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005 (28 of 2005). Previous notifications modified the SEZ area, with S.O. 1979(E) dated 16.11.2006 notifying 19.3341 hectares, S.O. 2546(E) dated 06.10.2009 resulting in 18.7985 hectares, and S.O. 410(E) dated 17.02.2010 resulting in 17.9907 hectares. M/s. Cessna Garden Developers Private Limited proposed the current de-notification, which received approval from the State Government of Karnataka vide letter No. CI 316 SPI 2025 dated 1st January, 2026, and recommendation from the Development Commissioner, Cochin SEZ. The de-notification is enacted in exercise of powers conferred by the second proviso to sub-section (1) of section 4 of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005, and in pursuance of rule 8 of the Special Economic Zones Rules, 2006. The de-notified area of 0.66 hectares comprises survey numbers 17/3 (P) (0.01019 hectares) and 17/4 (0.64768 hectares) in Kadubeesanahalli Village. Following this de-notification, the resultant notified area of the SEZ is 17.3307 hectares. The de-notified land parcels are intended for infrastructure creation to serve the SEZ's original objectives and conform to State Government land use guidelines. Cessna Garden Developers Private Limited has now proposed for de- notification of 0.66 hectares from the above Special Economic Zone; AND, WHEREAS, the State Government of Karnataka has given its approval to the proposal vide letter No. CI 316 SPI 2025 dated 1st January, 2026. Further, after de-notification, the land parcels would be utilized for creation of infrastructure which would sub serve the objective of the SEZ as originally envisaged and such de-notified area will confirm to Land Use Guidelines/master plans of the respective State Government. AND, WHEREAS, the Development Commissioner, Cochin SEZ has recommended the proposal for decrease in area of 0.66 hectare at the Special Economic Zone; AND, WHEREAS, the Central Government is satisfied that the requirements under sub-section (8) of section 3 of the said Act and other related requirements are fulfilled; NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by second proviso to sub-section (1) of section 4 of the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005 and in pursuance of rule 8 of the Special Economic Zones Rules, 2006, the Central Government hereby de-notifies an area of 0.66 hectare at above special economic zone, thereby making the resultant notified area as 17.3307 hectares.
