By notification G.S.R. 533(E) dated 24th July 2023, the Ministry of Finance (Department of Economic Affairs), exercising powers under clauses (d) and (e) of sub-section (2) of section 24 read with clauses (a) and (b) of section 2 of the Coinage Act, 2011 (11 of 2011), made the Coinage (Issue of Commemorative Coins on the Occasion of India's G20 Presidency) Rules, 2023, effective from the date of publication in the Official Gazette; the rules authorize coining of two commemorative denominations, one hundred rupees and seventy-five rupees, both circular with a 44-millimetre outside diameter, 200 serrations, and a quaternary alloy composition of 50 per cent silver, 40 per cent copper, 5 per cent nickel and 5 per cent zinc, with a standard weight of 35 grams and a permitted remedy (tolerance) of plus or minus 1/500th in silver content and plus or minus 1/100th in standard weight, 34.65 to 35.35 grams; the First Schedule specifies that the obverse of both coins bears the Lion Capitol of the Ashoka Pillar with the legend Satyamev Jayate, the word Bharat in Devanagari and INDIA in English, and the denominational value, while the reverse bears the logo of India's G20 Presidency with the inscription Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam in Devanagari and ONE EARTH - ONE FAMILY - ONE FUTURE in English; the notification bears F. EXTRAORDINARY PART II —Section 3 —Sub-section ( i) PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. 427] NEW DELHI , MON DAY, JULY 24, 2023/ SHRAVANA 2, 1945 CG-DL-E-24072023-247578 (1) (2) (3) (4) )1( )2( )3( )4( MINISTRY OF FINANCE (Department of Economics Affairs) NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 24th July, 2023 G.S.R. 533(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by clauses (d) and (e) of sub -section (2) of section 24 read with clauses (a) and (b) of section 2 of the Coinage Act, 2011 #(11 of 2011), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules, namely: - 1. Short tit le and commencement .- (1) These rules may be called the Coinage (Issue of Commemorative Coins on the Occasion of India’s G20 Presidency) Rules, 2023. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. Deno mination of coins .- The coins of the following denominations shall only be coined at the Mint for issue under the authority of the Central Government on the occasion of “India’s G20 Presidency ”- (i) One hundred rupees ; and (ii) Seventy -five rupees. 3. Dimension and composition of coins .- The coins of the denomination s referred to in rule 2 shall conform to the following dimensions and composition, namely: - Denomination of the coins Shape and outside diameter Number of serrations Metal composition (1) (2) (3) (4) One hundred rupees Circular 44 millimeter s 200 Quaternary Alloy Silver - 50 per cent. ; Copper - 40 per cent. ; Nickel - 05 per cent. ; and Zinc - 05 per cent. Design .- The design of the coin shall be as specified in the First Schedule to these rules. 5. Standard weight and remedy allowed .- The standard weight of the coins of the denominations referred to in rule 2, coined to commemorate the occasion of India’s G20 Presidency and the remedy allowed in making of such coins shall be as specified in the Second Schedule to these rules. First S chedule (See rule 4) (i) ONE HUNDRED RUPEES OBVERSE: This face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the centre with the legend “सत्यमेि ियते” inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word “भारत ” in Devnag ari script and on the right periphery with the word “INDIA ” in English. It shall also bear the Rupee symbol “₹`” and denominational value “ 100” in the international numerals below the Lion Capitol. REVERSE: This face of the coin shall bear the design of the logo of India’s G20 Presidency in the centre. The inscription ‘िसुधैि क ु टुम्बकम् ’ shall be written in Devnagari script on the upper periphery of the coin and the inscription “ONE EARTH • ONE FAMILY • ONE FUTURE ” in English shall be written on lower periphery of the coin. (ii) SEVENTY FIVE RUPEES OBVERSE: This face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the centre with the legend “सत्यमेि ियते” inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word “भारत ” in Devnag ari script and on the right periphery with the word “INDIA ” in English. It shall also bear the Rupee symbol “ ₹`” and denominational value “ 75” in the international numerals below the Lion Capitol. REVERSE: This face of the coin shall bear the design of the logo of India’s G20 Presidency in the centre.
