The Ministry of Finance (Department of Economic Affairs), by notification G.S.R. 914(E) dated 23rd December 2023, in exercise of powers under clauses (d) and (e) of sub-section (2) of section 24 of the Coinage Act, 2011 (11 of 2011), made the Coinage (Issue of Commemorative Coin on the occasion of Khartargachha Millennium, Founder Jaincharya Shri Jineshwar Suri) Rules, 2023, effective from the date of publication in the Official Gazette; the rules authorize minting of a One Thousand Rupee denomination coin, circular in shape with a 44 millimetre outside diameter, 200 serrations, composed of 99.9 per cent pure silver, with a standard weight of 40 grams (permissible remedy of 998.8 parts per 1000 in composition and 1/8000th, i.e. 39.995 to 40.005 grams, in weight), whose obverse bears the Lion Capitol of the Ashoka Pillar with the legend Satyameva Jayate, the words Bharat and India, and the denominational value, while the reverse bears the image of Jaincharya Shri Jineshwar Suri with the inscriptions Pure Righteousness, Khartargachha Millennium, and Founder: Jaincharya Shri Jineshwar Suri; the notification (F. Short title and commencement .- (1) These rules may be called the Coinage (Issue of Commemorative Coin on the occasion of Khartargachha Millennium, Founder Jaincharya Shri Jineshwar Suri) Rules, 2023. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their public ation in the Official Gazette. 2. Denomination of coin .- The coin of One Thousand Rupees denomination shall only be coined at the Mint for issue under the authority of the Central Government on the occasion of Khartargachha Millennium - Founder Jaincharya Shri Jineshwar Suri. 3. Dimension and composition of coin .- The denomination of the coin mentioned in rule 2 shall conform to the following dimensions and composition, namely: - Denomination of the coin Shape and outside diameter Number of serrations Metal composition (1) (2) (3) (4) One Thousand Rupees Circular 44 millimeter 200 Pure Silver Silver - 99.9 per cent 4. Design .- The design of the coin shall be as specified in the First Schedule to these rules. 5. Standard weight and remedy allowed .- The standard weight of the coin of denomination referred in rule 2 shall be coined to commemorate the occasion of Khartargachha Millennium - Founder Jaincharya Shri Jineshwar Suri and the remedy allowed in making of such coin shall be as specified in the Second Schedule to these rules. THE FIRST SCHEDULE [See rule 4] ONE THOUSAND RUPEES OBVERSE: This face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the centre with the legend “सत्यमेि ियते ” inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word “भारत ” in Devnagri script and on the right periphery with the word “ INDIA ” in English. It shall also bear the Rupee symbol “ ₹” and denominational value “ 1000 ” in the international numerals below the Lion Capitol. REVERSE: The face of the coin will bear the image of Jaincharya Shri Jineshwar Suri . At the bottom of the image of Jaincharya Shri Jineshwar Suri , text in Hindi, " खरा सो खरतर ", and in English, " PURE RIGHTEOUSNES S", shall be inscribed. श्री जिनेश्वरसूरी ” shall be inscribed in Devnagari script on the upper periphery and the text “KHARTARGACHHA MILLENNIUM ” and “ FOUNDER : JAINACHARYA SHRI JINESHWAR SURI ” in English shall inscribed on the lower periphery of the coin . THE SECOND SCHEDULE [See rule 5] Denomination of the coin Standard weight Remedy allowed In composition In standard weight (1) (2) (3) (4) One Thousand Rupees 40 Grams 999 parts of silver per 1000. The tolerance for Silver content shall be 998.8 and above. 1/8000th plus or minus that is to say weight could be 39.995 grams to 40.005 grams. [F.
