Its function is to advise on the implementation of Official Language provisions in the Constitution, Official Language Act and Rules, Kendriya Hindi Samiti policy decisions, and instructions from the Department of Official Language, specifically regarding the progressive use of Hindi within the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation. The Samiti's tenure is normally three years from its reconstitution date, with specific conditions for members ceasing to hold office. Its headquarters are in New Delhi. The functions of the Samiti will be to render advice in regard to the Implementation of the provisions relating to Official Language contained in the Constitution, OL Act and Rules, and Policy decisions of the Kendriya Hindi Samiti and instructions issued by the Department of Offical Language relating to Official Language and also in regard to the progressive use of Hindi in the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation. Tenure 3. The tenure of the Samiti will be normally three years from the date of its reconstitution subject to the following: (a) A member, who is Member of Parliament, will cease to be a member of the Samiti as soon as he ceases to be a Member of Parliament: (b) Ex-officio members of the Samiti shall continue as members so long as they hold the office by virtue of which they are members of the Samiti: (c) A member nominated in a vacancy arising in the Samiti due to the death or resignation of any member shall hold office for the residual term. (d) If a person is nominated as members in the middle of the term, he will hold office for the residual term of the Committee. Headquarters 4. The Headquarters of the Samiti shall be at New Delhi. Travelling and other allowances 5. The non-official members will be paid travelling and daily allowances for attending the meeting of the Samiti at the rates fixed by the Government of India from time to time and as per instructions contained in the Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, Office Memorandum No.II/20034/4/86-OL(A-2) dated 22nd January, 1987.
