These rules, notified as G.S.R. 402(E) on June 19, 2025, and effective from their publication date in the Official Gazette (June 23, 2025), amend the Metro Railways (Procedure of Claims) Rules, 2017 (originally published vide G.S.R. 353(E) dated April 11, 2017). Key amendments include substituting "four lakh" with "eight lakh" in rule 17(2), "eighty thousand" with "one lakh sixty thousand" in rule 17(3), and "five lakh" with "eight lakh" in rule 18. Furthermore, the entire Second Schedule, which details compensation payable for death and injuries, has been substituted. The revised schedule specifies Rs. 8,00,000 for death and for severe injuries such as loss of both hands, loss of hand and a foot, double amputation through leg or thigh, loss of sight, severe facial disfigurement, or absolute deafness. Other injuries listed in Part III have compensation amounts ranging from Rs. 64,000 (e.g., Fracture of Major Bone-Humerus, Radius Ulna of one limb) to Rs. 7,20,000 (e.g., For amputation through shoulder joint).

Short title and commencement. - (1) These rules may be called the Metro Railways (Procedure of Claims) Amendment Rules, 2025. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. In the Metro Railways (Procedure of Claims) Rules, 2017 (hereinafter referred to as the principal rules).- (1) In rule 17 .- (a) in sub-rule (2), for the words "four lakh", the words "eight lakh" shall be substituted; (b) in sub-rule (3), for the words "eighty thousand", the words "one lakh sixty thousand" shall be substituted. (2) In rule 18 of the principal rules, for the words “five lakh", the words “eight lakh” shall be substituted. 3.
