Notification S.O. 2761(E) issued by the Ministry of Labour and Employment on 23 June 2023 extends, under the proviso to sub-clause (vi) of clause (n) of section 2 of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (14 of 1947), the declaration that services in the Uranium Industry (covered under item 19 of the First Schedule to that Act) constitute a public utility service, for a further period of six months with effect from 9 July 2023. The industry's public utility status had last been declared for six months from 9 January 2023 vide notification S.O. 124(E) dated 9 January 2023. The extension is issued in the public interest. 3994 GI/202 3 (1) EXTRAORDINARY PART II —Section 3 —Sub-section ( ii) PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. 2641] NEW DELHI, FRIDAY, JUNE 23, 2023/ASHADHA 2, 194 5 CG-DL-E-23062023-246774 MINISTRY OF LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT NOTIFICATION New Delhi the 23 rd June, 2023 S.O. 2761(E).—Whereas the Central Government is satisfied that the public interest so requires that the services in the Uranium Industry, which is covered under item 19 of the First Schedule to the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (14 of 1947), to be a public utilit y service for the purposes of the said Act; And whereas the Central Government has lastly declared the said industry to be a public utility service for the purposes of the said Act for a period of six months from the 9th Janurary, 2023 vide notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Labour and Employment number S.O. 124 (E), dated the 9th January, 2023; And whereas the Central Government is of the opinion that public interest requires the extension of public utility service s tatus to the said industry for a further period of six months; Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to sub -clause (vi) of clause (n) of section 2 of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947(14 of 1947), the Central Government hereby declares the services engaged in the said industry to be a public utility service for the purposes of the said Act for a further period of six months with effect from the 9th July, 2023.
