By notification S.O. 5418(E) dated 22nd December 2023, the Ministry of Labour and Employment, exercising powers under the proviso to sub-clause (vi) of clause (n) of section 2 of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (14 of 1947), extended for a further period of six months, with effect from 29th January 2024, the declaration that services at Bhartiya Reserve Bank Note Mudran (P) Limited, Mysore (Karnataka) and Salboni (West Bengal) - covered under item 25 of the First Schedule to the Act - constitute a public utility service, on the ground that public interest so requires; this extends the earlier six-month declaration made vide notification S.O. 2758(E) dated 23rd June 2023 (effective 29th July 2023).

7877 GI/202 3 (1) EXTRAORDINARY PART II —Section 3 —Sub-section ( ii) PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. 5188] NEW DELHI, FRIDAY , DECEMBER 22, 2023/ PAUSA 1, 1945 CG-DL-E-22122023-250824 MINISTRY OF LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT NOT IFICATION New Delhi, the 2 2nd December , 2023 S.O. 5418(E).— Whereas the Central Government is satisfied that the public interest so requires that the services in the Bhartiya Reserve Bank Note Mudran (P) Limited, Mysore (Karnataka) and Salboni (West Bengal), which is covered under item 25 of the First Schedule to the Industria l Dispute Act, 1947 (14 of 1947), to be a public utility service for the purposes of the said Act; And whereas the Central Government had declared the said industry to be public utility service for the purposes of the said Act for a period of six months with effect from the 29th July, 2023 vide notification number S.O. 2758 (E), dated the 23rd June, 2023 of the Government of India in the Ministry of Labour and Employment, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part -II, Section 3, Sub -section (ii), dated the 23rd June, 2023; And whereas the Central Government is of the opinion that public interest requires the extension of the public utility service status to the said industry for a per iod of six months; Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to sub -clause (vi) of clause (n) of section 2 of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (14 of 1947), the Central Government hereby declares the services in the said industry to be a public utility service for the purposes of the said Act for a period of six months with effect from the 29th January, 2024.
