No. 20-10/2013-A&A.—The Asiatic Society, Kolkata (ASK) is an Autonomous Institution under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. 2. President, the Asiatic Society vide his letter dated 05.08.2024 addressed to Secretary (Culture) has informed that the General Secretary, the Treasurer and all other elected members of the Council of Asiatic Society, excepting one or two, who are abroad, have tendered their resignations due to frequent misbehaviour shown by a section of the employees. He has forwarded the en-masse resignation of these members in which these members have decided not to continue in the Council of Asiatic Society and requested to take note of it. 3. Further, the Asiatic Society, Kolkata has been continuously violating the instructions of Government of India issued from time to time in the matter of settlement of PAC paras on irregular payment of adhoc bonus and excess contribution to employees' provident fund to the employees in the Asiatic Society. 4. The Asiatic Society, Kolkata has also made default in giving effect to the directions of the Central Government issued vide letter No. 20-5/2015-A&A (Part) dated 23.07.2020 under Section 12(1) of the Asiatic Society Act, 1984. 5. Keeping in view the above and in order to ensure that various activities of ASK do not get stuck and for smooth functioning of the Organization, the Competent Authority in the Central Government, hereby, appoints Lt. Col. Anant Sinha, Director, ASK as Administrator of ASK under Section 13 (2) of the Asiatic Society Act, 1984, to take over the management of the Society for a period of two years from the date of notification in the Gazette of India or until further orders.
