L.-33004/99 The Gazette of India CG-DL-E-21022024-252272 EXTRAORDINARY PART II—Section 3—Sub-section (ii) PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. 777] NEW DELHI, WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 21, 2024/PHALGUNA 2, 1945 MINISTRY OF FINANCE (Department of Revenue) (CENTRAL ECONOMIC INTELLIGENCE BUREAU) (COFEPOSA WING) ORDER New Delhi, the 19th February, 2024 S.O. 814(E).—Whereas the Joint Secretary to the Government of India, specially empowered under sub- section (1) of Section 3 of the Conservation of Foreign Exchange and Prevention of Smuggling Activities Act, 1974 (52 of 1974) issued Order No. PD-12001/08/2023-COFEPOSA dated 20.12.2023 under the said sub-section directing that Shri Arulanantharajan @ Arul, S/o Shri Jayarajan (alias Shanmuga Pillai) R/o No. 3/36A, Vadakkumadavilakam, Kodiakkadu, Vedaranyam, Nagapattinam, Tamil Nadu -614807 be detained and kept in Central Prison, Puzhal, Mahalakshmi Nagar, Chennai, Tamil Nadu -600066 with a view to prevent him from smuggling goods, abetting the smuggling of goods, engaging in transporting or concealing or keeping smuggled goods, dealing in smuggled goods and harbouring persons engaged in smuggling goods or in abetting the smuggling of goods in future. 2. Whereas the Central Government has reasons to believe that the aforesaid person has absconded or has been concealing himself so that the Order cannot be executed. 3. Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (b) of sub-section (1) of Section 7 of the said Act, the Central Government hereby directs the aforesaid person to appear before the Director General of Police & Head of Police Department, Government of Tamilnadu, Chennai within 7 days of the publication of this Order in the Official Gazette.
