This notification (G.S.R. 218(E), Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic Affairs, dated 19 March 2024) makes the Coinage (Issue of Commemorative Coin on the occasion of 90 Years Celebration of Reserve Bank of India) Rules, 2024, in exercise of powers under clauses (d) and (e) of sub-section (2) of section 24 of the Coinage Act, 2011 (11 of 2011), effective from the date of publication in the Official Gazette. The rules prescribe a Ninety Rupees denomination coin, circular in shape with a 44 millimetre outside diameter, 200 serrations, composed of 99.9 per cent pure silver, with a standard weight of 40 grams (remedy allowance of 998.8 parts per 1000 or above for silver content, and 1/8000th, i.e. 39.995 to 40.005 grams, for standard weight). The First Schedule specifies the design: the obverse bears the Lion Capital of the Ashoka Pillar with the legend "Satyameva Jayate," the word "Bharat" in Devanagari script and "INDIA" in English, the Rupee symbol and the numeral "90"; the reverse bears the Reserve Bank of India logo, inscriptions in Devanagari and "RESERVE BANK OF INDIA" in English, and "RBI@90" below the logo. Short title and commencement. - (1) These rules may be called the Coinage (Issue of Commemorative Coin on the occasion of 90 Y ears Celebration of Reserve Bank of India ) Rules, 2024. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. Denomination of coin .- The coin of ninety rupees denomination shall only be coined at the Mint for issue under the authority of the Central Government to commemorate on the occasion of 90 years Celebration of Reserve Bank of India . 3. Dimension and composition of coin. - The denomination of the coin mentioned in rule 2 shall conform to the following dimensions and composition, namely: - Denomination of coin Shape and outside diameter Number of serrations Metal composition (1) (2) (3) (4) Ninety Rupees Circular 44 millimetre 200 Pure Silver Silver - 99.9 per cent 4. Design .- The design of the coin shall be as specified in the First Schedule annexed to these rules. 5. Stan dard weight and remedy allowed. - The standard weight of the coin of denomination referred in rule 2 to commemorate the occasion of 90 years Celebration of Reserve Bank of India and the remedy allowed in making of such coin shall be as specified in the Second Schedule annexed to these ru les. THE FIRST SCHEDULE [See rule 4 ] NINETY RUPEES OBVERSE: This face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the centre with the legend “सत्यमेव जयते ” inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word “भारत ” in Devnag ari script and on the right periphery with the word “ INDIA ” in English. It shall also bear the Rupee symbol “ ₹” and denominational value “ 90” in the international numerals below the Lion Capitol. REVERSE: This face of coin shall bear the logo of Reserve Bank of India in the centre of the coin . The inscription “ भारतीय ररज़वव बैंक”shall be written in Devnagari script on the upper periphery of the coin and the inscription “RESERVE BANK OF INDIA ” in English shall be depicted on the lower periphery of the coin. “RBI@90” shall be written below the logo of the Reserve Bank of India. THE SECOND SCHEDULE [See r ule 5 ] Denomination of coin Standard weight Remedy allowed In composition In standard weight (1) (2) (3) (4) Ninety Rupees 40 Grams 999 parts of Silver per 1000. The tolerance for Silver content shall be 998.8 and above. 1/8000th plus or minus that is to say weight could be 39.995 grams to 40.005 grams.
