The Ministry of Defence, through Notification S.R.O. 2(E) dated January 19, 2026, notifies the constitution of specific Cantonment Boards. This action is taken in pursuance of sub-section (3) of section 13 of the Cantonments Act, 2006 (41 of 2006), and read with the Government of India's Ministry of Defence notification number S.R.O 1(E), dated January 16, 2026. The previous notification, published in the Gazette of India (Extraordinary), Part II, Section 4, on January 16, 2026, declared variations in certain Cantonment Boards. The newly constituted Cantonment Boards, as detailed in the accompanying table, will consist of members indicated in column (3) of the table, comprising (a) the Officer Commanding the Station, (b) the Chief Executive Officer, and (c) a named individual or 'Vacant' member, all appointed under clauses (a), (b) and (c) of sub-section (2) of section 13 of the said Act. This constitution comes into effect from the 11th day of February, 2026. The notification lists 56 Cantonment Boards, including Agra, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Pune, and Lucknow, specifying their respective third members.
