The Ministry of Defence, Department of Defence Research and Development, through Notification S.R.O. 20(E) dated 14th November, 2025, notifies the authorization for the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) to perform Aadhaar authentication on a voluntary basis. This authorization is granted in pursuance of sub-clause (ii) of clause (b) of sub-section (4) of section 4 of the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Act, 2016 (18 of 2016), read with rule 5 of the Aadhaar Authentication for Good Governance (Social Welfare, Innovation, Knowledge) Rules, 2020. The purpose of this authentication is to verify the identity of candidates at the time of registration and various stages of examination or recruitment tests conducted by DRDO, using either a "Yes/No" option or an "e-KYC authentication facility." This permission is subject to adherence to all relevant provisions of the aforementioned Act, its rules and regulations, and directions issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India.
