Previously, the said industry, which is covered under items 14 and 15 of the First Schedule to the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947, was declared a public utility service for six months with effect from November 9, 2024, via notification S.O. 4822(E) dated November 6, 2024, issued by the Government of India in the Ministry of Labour and Employment. This current notification extends that public utility service status for a further period of six months.

L.-33004/99 The Gazette of India CG-DL-E-17062025-263915 EXTRAORDINARY PART II-Section 3-Sub-section (ii) PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. 2650] NEW DELHI, TUESDAY, JUNE 17, 2025/JYAISTHA 27, 1947 3966 GI/2025 MINISTRY OF LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 17th June, 2025 S.O. 2715(E). — WHEREAS the Central Government is satisfied that public interest so requires that the services engaged in the Lead and Zinc Mining Industry, which are covered under items 14 and 15 of the First Schedule to the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (14 of 1947) to be a public utility service for the purposes of the said Act; AND WHEREAS, the Central Government has declared the said industry to be a public utility service for the purposes of the said Act for a period of six months with effect from the 9th November, 2024 vide notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Labour and Employment, number S.O. 4822(E), dated the 6th November, 2024; AND WHEREAS, the Central Government is of the opinion that the public interest requires the extension of the status of the said industry as the public utility service for a further period of six months; NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to sub-clause (vi) of clause (n) of section 2 of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (14 of 1947), the Central Government hereby declares the services of the industries engaged in the Lead and Zinc Mining Industry to be a public utility service for the purposes of the said Act for a period of six months from the date of publication of this notification in the Official Gazette.
