S.O. 3495(E) dated 16th August 2024, issued by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, recites that the Central Government, satisfied that public interest so required, had earlier declared industries engaged in Iron and Steel, covered under Item 7 of the First Schedule to the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (14 of 1947), to be a public utility service for six months with effect from 17th February 2024, vide notification S.O. 687(E) dated 14th February 2024; now, in exercise of powers under the proviso to sub-clause (vi) of clause (n) of Section 2 of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947, and being of the opinion that public interest requires extension, the Central Government extends the period specified in notification S.O. 687(E) dated 14th February 2024 for a further period of six months from 17th August 2024, during which Iron and Steel industry services shall continue to be treated as a public utility service; issued under File No. S-11017/01/2024-IR(PL) and signed by Deepika Kachhal, Joint Secretary.

L.-33004/99 The Gazette of India CG-DL-E-16082024-256442 EXTRAORDINARY PART II—Section 3—Sub-section (ii) PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. 3179] NEW DELHI, FRIDAY, AUGUST 16, 2024/SHRAVANA 25, 1946 MINISTRY OF LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 16th August, 2024 S.O. 3495(E).—WHEREAS the Central Government is satisfied that public interest so requires that the services of industries engaged in the Iron and Steel, which is covered under item 7 of the First Schedule to the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (14 of 1947), to be a public utility service for the purposes of the said Act; AND WHEREAS the Central Government has declared the said industrial undertaking to be public utility service for the purposes of the said Act for a period of six months with effect from the 17th February, 2024, vide notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Labour and Employment, number S.O. 687(E), dated the 14th February, 2024; AND WHEREAS the proviso to sub-clause (vi) of clause (n) of section 2 of the said Act provides that if the Central Government is of the opinion that public interest requires the extension of the declaration of public utility service, it may be extended for a period not exceeding six months; NOW THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to sub-clause (vi) of clause (n) of section 2 of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (14 of 1947), the Central Government, being of the opinion that in the public interest requires extension, hereby extends the period specified in the notification number S.O.687(E), dated the 14th February, 2024 for a further period of six month from the 17th August, 2024 during which the services engaged in the said industries to be a public utility service for the purposes of the said Act.
