The Ministry of Labour and Employment, through S.O. 5792(E) dated 12th December, 2025, has declared the services of industries engaged in the Lead and Zinc Mining Industry as a public utility service. This declaration is made by the Central Government, exercising powers conferred by the proviso to sub-clause (vi) of clause (n) of section 2 of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (14 of 1947). The Central Government is satisfied that public interest requires this designation for the industry, which is covered under items 14 and 15 of the First Schedule to the said Act. This status is effective for a period of six months starting from 17th December, 2025. This extends a previous declaration where the industry was declared a public utility service for six months with effect from 17th June, 2025, vide notification S.O. 2715(E), dated 17th June, 2025.

L.-33004/99 The Gazette of India CG-DL-E-15122025-268514 EXTRAORDINARY PART II-Section 3-Sub-section (ii) PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. 5597] NEW DELHI, MONDAY, DECEMBER 15, 2025/AGRAHAYANA 24, 1947 MINISTRY OF LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 12th December, 2025 S.O. 5792(E).—Whereas the Central Government is satisfied that public interest so requires that the services of the industry engaged in the Lead and Zinc Mining Industry, which are covered under items 14 and 15 of the First Schedule to the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (14 of 1947) (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), to be a public utility service for the purposes of the said Act; And whereas, the Central Government has declared the said industry to be a public utility service for the purposes of the said Act for a period of six months with effect from the 17th June, 2025 vide notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Labour and Employment, number S.O. 2715(E), dated the 17th June, 2025; And whereas, the Central Government is of the opinion that the public interest requires the extension of the public utility service status of the said industry for a further period of six months. Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to sub-clause (vi) of clause (n) of section 2 of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (14 of 1947), the Central Government hereby declares the services of the industries engaged in the Lead and Zinc Mining Industry to be a public utility service for the purposes of the said Act for a period of six months with effect from the 17th December, 2025.
