By Notification S.O. 4486(E) dated 14th October 2024, the Ministry of Labour and Employment, being satisfied that public interest so requires, and exercising powers under the proviso to sub-clause (vi) of clause (n) of section 2 of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (14 of 1947), declares the services of the industry engaged in Iron Ore Mining, covered under item 16 of the First Schedule to the said Act, to continue as a public utility service for a further period of six months with effect from 14th October 2024; this extends the earlier declaration made vide S.O. 1708(E) dated 12th April 2024, which had declared the industry a public utility service for six months from 14th April 2024; the notification bears File No. S-11017/06/2024-IR(PL) and is signed by Deepika Kachhal, Joint Secretary.

L.-33004/99 The Gazette of India CG-DL-E-15102024-257875 No. 4123] EXTRAORDINARY PART II—Section 3—Sub-section (ii) PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY NEW DELHI, MONDAY, OCTOBER 14, 2024/ASVINA 22, 1946 6643 GI/2024 THE GAZETTE OF INDIA: EXTRAORDINARY [PART II-SEC. 3(ii)] MINISTRY OF LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 14th October, 2024 S.O. 4486(E).-WHEREAS the Central Government is satisfied that public interest so requires that the services engaged in the Iron Ore Mining, which are covered under item 16 of the First Schedule to the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (14 of 1947), to be a public utility service for the purposes of the said Act; AND WHEREAS, the Central Government has declared the said industry to be public utility service for the purposes of the said Act for a period of six months with effect from the 14th April, 2024, vide notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Labour and Employment, number S.O. 1708(E), dated the 12th April, 2024; AND WHEREAS, the Central Government is of the opinion that public interest requires the extension of the public utility service status to the said industry for a further period of six months; NOW THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to sub-clause (vi) of clause (n) of section 2 of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (14 of 1947), the Central Government hereby declares the services of the industry engaged in the Iron Ore Mining to be a public utility service for the purposes of the said Act for a period of six months with effect from the 14th October, 2024.
