The Ministry of Labour and Employment, through Notification S.O. 5172(E) dated 13th November, 2025, has declared the services of the industry engaged in the Uranium Industry as a public utility service for six months, effective from 19th December, 2025. This declaration is made by the Central Government under the powers conferred by the proviso to sub-clause (vi) of clause (n) of section 2 of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (14 of 1947), due to public interest requiring this extension. The Uranium Industry is specified under item 19 of the First Schedule to the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947. This extends a previous declaration where the Central Government had made the industry a public utility service for six months, effective from 20th June, 2025, via notification S.O. 2241(E) dated 20th May, 2025. L.-33004/99 The Gazette of India CG-DL-E-14112025-267670 EXTRAORDINARY PART II-Section 3-Sub-section (ii) PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY No. 5003] NEW DELHI, THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 13, 2025/ KARTIKA_22, 1947 THE GAZETTE OF INDIA : EXTRAORDINARY MINISTRY OF LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 13th November, 2025 S.O. 5172(E).- Whereas the Central Government is satisfied that the public interest so requires that the service in the Uranium Industry, which is covered under item 19 of the First Schedule to the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (14 of 1947) (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), to be a public utility service for the purposes of the said Act; And whereas the Central Government has declared the said industry to be public utility service for the purposes of the said Act for a period of six months with effect from the 20th June, 2025, vide notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Number S.O. 2241(E), dated 20th May, 2025; And whereas the Central Government is of the opinion that public interest requires the extension of the public utility service status to the said industry for a further period of six months. Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to sub-clause (vi) of clause (n) of section 2 of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (14 of 1947), the Central Government hereby declares the services of the industry engaged in the Uranium Industry to be a public utility service for the purposes of the said Act for a period of six months with effect from the 19th December, 2025.
