Detailed Summary

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, through Notification G.S.R. 844(E) dated 13th November, 2025, announces that the Central Government, in exercise of powers conferred by sub-sections (1) and (3) of section 18 of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (22 of 2023), hereby establishes the Data Protection Board of India. This Board is tasked with exercising the powers and performing the functions assigned to it under the aforementioned Act. The establishment comes into effect from the date of publication of this notification in the Official Gazette. The head office of the Data Protection Board of India shall be located in the National Capital Region of India. The notification is signed by Ajit Kumar, Joint Secretary.
