Detailed Summary

The Ministry of Labour and Employment, vide Notification S.O. 2453(E) dated 12th May, 2026, has exercised powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 49 of the Code on Wages, 2019 (29 of 2019), to appoint various officers as appellate authorities. This notification supersedes the Government of India's Notification S.O. No. 3730(E) dated 17.10.2019, with a saving clause for actions done or omitted before supersession. The appointed officers, primarily Deputy Chief Labour Commissioners (Central) in different regions, are designated to hear and dispose of appeals filed by any person aggrieved by an order passed by an authority under sub-section (2) of section 45 of the said Code, in cases where the Central Government is the appropriate Government. Their jurisdictions are specified in a comprehensive Table, covering the whole of India for All Deputy Chief Labour Commissioners (Central) in the office of Chief Labour Commissioner (Central), New Delhi, and specific states, civil districts, and Union Territories for other regional Deputy Chief Labour Commissioners (Central), such as Gujarat, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Odisha, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Chandigarh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Assam, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Tripura, Manipur, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Sikkim, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Maharashtra, Goa, National Capital Territory of Delhi, Bihar, and Chhattisgarh.
