No. 22/1/2022-DCHL/Estt.II), exercising powers delegated to the Development Commissioner for Handlooms as Head of Department of the Indian Institutes of Handloom Technology (IIHTs) and Chairman of the IIHTs Governing Body, constituted the Board of Academic Affairs (BoAA) of the IIHTs, chaired by Dr. Samrat Mukhopadhyay, Professor at the Department of Textile and Fibre Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, with twenty other named or designated members including representatives from the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Indian Institute of Carpet Technology (Bhadohi), SITRA (Coimbatore), NITRA (Ghaziabad), Institute of Chemical Technology (Mumbai), the University of Calcutta, and Directors/Principals of IIHT institutes at Salem, Varanasi, Jodhpur, Guwahati, Bargarh, Fulia, Venkatagiri, Gadag-Betgeri, Champa and Kannur, plus two industry nominees; the notification states the BoAA, formed by merging the former Board of Studies and Board of Examiners per the 45th Governing Body Meeting of IIHTs, is responsible for framing curriculum and syllabus for Diploma and Post Diploma programmes across IIHTs, conducting examinations, developing an interface with the handloom industry, and recommending successful candidates and issuing marksheets and certificates jointly with the Controller of Examinations; the notification was signed by B.K.P. Functions and powers of the Board of Academic Affairs. I. The BoAA is a representative body of academicians/experts from the textile field and the Principals/Directors of IIHTs. The BoAA has been constituted by merging the Board of Studies and the Board of Examiners on the recommendations of the 45th Governing Body Meeting of IIHTs. BoAA shall be responsible for framing of curriculum &syllabus for the Diploma and Post Diploma programs conducted by various IIHTs (Indian Institute of Handloom Technology) across the Union of India. The Board is also responsible for the smooth conduct of examinations at all these IIHTs. II. The BoAA should work to develop an interface between the IIHTs and the Handloom Industry. They shall revise the syllabus from time to time taking into account the demands and needs of the Handloom and Textile Industry. III. The Chairman BoAAjointly with the Controller of Examination shall recommend the successful candidates ofIIHTs to the Chairman Governing Body for issuing the Diploma and Post Diploma Certificates. IV. The Chairman, BoAA jointly with Controller of examinations shall issue Semester examination marksheets and consolidated marksheets of Diploma program after following due procedures. [F.
