NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 1st August, 2024
G.S.R. 493(E).—In exercise of powers delegated to Development Commissioner for Handlooms as Head of
Department of Indian Institutes of Handloom Technology (IIHTs) and Chairman of Governing Body of IIHTS,
Government of India hereby constitutes the Board of Academic Affairs (BoAA) of Indian Institute of Handloom
Technology (IIHTs) with following members:—
1. Dr. Samrat Mukhopadhyay, Professor, Room No.TX-110D, Department of

2. Functions and powers of the Board of Academic Affairs.
I. The BoAA is a representative body of academicians/experts from the textile field and the
Principals/Directors of IIHTs. The BoAA has been constituted by merging the Board of Studies and
the Board of Examiners on the recommendations of the 45th Governing Body Meeting of IIHTs.
BoAA shall be responsible for framing of curriculum &syllabus for the Diploma and Post Diploma
programs conducted by various IIHTs (Indian Institute of Handloom Technology) across the Union
of India. The Board is also responsible for the smooth conduct of examinations at all these IIHTs.
II. The BoAA should work to develop an interface between the IIHTs and the Handloom Industry.
They shall revise the syllabus from time to time taking into account the demands and needs of the
Handloom and Textile Industry.
III. The Chairman BoAAjointly with the Controller of Examination shall recommend the successful
candidates ofIIHTs to the Chairman Governing Body for issuing the Diploma and Post Diploma
Certificates.
IV. The Chairman, BoAA jointly with Controller of examinations shall issue Semester examination
marksheets and consolidated marksheets of Diploma program after following due procedures.
