The Ministry of Finance (Department of Economic Affairs), vide Notification G.S.R. 309(E) dated 13th May, 2025, in exercise of powers conferred by clauses (d) and (e) of sub-section (2) of section 24 of the Coinage Act, 2011 (11 of 2011), has made the Coinage (Issue of commemorative coin on the occasion of 50 Glorious Years of Statehood – Sikkim) Rules, 2025. These rules come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. The rules specify that a coin of Fifty Rupees denomination shall be coined at the Mint for issue on the occasion of 50 Glorious Years of Statehood – Sikkim. The coin is to be Circular with a 44 millimeter outside diameter and 200 serrations, composed of Pure Silver (99.9% Silver). The design, as specified in the First Schedule, includes the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar, 'INDIA', the Rupee symbol, and '50' on the obverse, and a logo for the 50 Years celebration of Sikkim State, '50 GLORIOUS YEARS OF STATEHOOD-SIKKIM', and the year '1975 -2025' on the reverse. The standard weight, as per the Second Schedule, is 40 Grams, with a remedy allowed of 1/8000th plus or minus (39.995 grams to 40.005 grams) and a tolerance for Silver content of 999 parts per 1000 or above. Short title and commencement.—(1) These rules may be called the Coinage (Issue of commemorative coin on the occasion of 50 Glorious Years of Statehood – Sikkim) Rules, 2025. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. Denomination of coin. -The coin of Fifty Rupees denomination shall only be coined at the Mint for issue under the authority of the Central Government on the occasion of 50 Glorious Years of Statehood – Sikkim. 3. Dimension and composition of coin. Design. The design of the coin shall be as specified in the First Schedule annexed to these rules. 5. Standard weight and remedy allowed. The standard weight of the coin of denomination referred in rule 2 to commemorate the occasion of 50 Glorious Years of Statehood – Sikkim and the remedy allowed in making of such coin shall be as specified in the Second Schedule annexed to these rules. THE FIRST SCHEDULE (See rule 4) FIFTY RUPEES OBVERSE: This face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the centre with the legend "सत्यमेव जयते" inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word "भारत" in Devnagari script and on the right periphery with the word "INDIA" in English. It shall also bear the Rupee symbol "`" and denominational value "50" in the international numerals below the Lion Capitol. REVERSE: This face of coin shall bear logo of 50 Years celebration of Sikkim State in the center of the coin. The inscription "राज्यत्व के 50 गौरवशाली वर्ष – सिक्किम " shall be written in Devnagari script on the upper periphery and the inscription "50 GLORIOUS YEARS OF STATEHOOD-SIKKIM” in English shall be depicted on the lower periphery of the coin. The year “1975 -2025” in international numeral shall be written below the logo of 50 Years celebration of Sikkim State.
