The Ministry of Finance (Department of Economic Affairs), through G.S.R. 182(E) dated 12th March, 2026, has exercised powers conferred by clauses (d) and (e) of sub-section (2) of section 24 of the Coinage Act, 2011 (11 of 2011), to establish the Coinage (Issue of Commemorative Coin on the occasion of Centenary Year Celebration of Indian Institute of Technology, Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad) Rules, 2026. These rules, effective upon publication in the Official Gazette, authorize the coining of a One Hundred Rupees denomination coin at the Mint. The coin, commemorating the Centenary Year Celebration of Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad, will be circular with a 44-millimeter diameter and 200 serrations. Its composition will be Quaternary Alloy, consisting of 50 percent Silver, 40 percent Copper, 05 percent Nickel, and 05 percent Zinc. The standard weight is 35 Grams, with allowed remedies of 1/500th plus or minus for Silver content (498 to 502 per 1000) and 1/100th plus or minus for standard weight (34.65 grams to 35.35 grams). The obverse design features the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar with "INDIA" and the Rupee symbol "₹" and "100" in international numerals. The reverse design depicts the building of Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) Dhanbad, with the years "1926-2026" and the inscription "INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (INDIAN SCHOOL OF MINES) DHANBAD" and "CENTENARY CELEBRATION" in English.

Short title and commencement.— (1) These rules may be called the Coinage (Issue of Commemorative Coin on the occasion of Centenary Year Celebration of Indian Institute of Technology, Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad) Rules, 2026. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. Denomination of coin.— The coin of One Hundred Rupees denomination shall be coined at the Mint for issue under the authority of the Central Government to commemorate the occasion of Centenary year Celebration of Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad. 3. Design. The design of the coin shall be as specified in the First Schedule annexed to these rules. 5. Standard weight and remedy allowed. The standard weight of the coin of denomination referred to in rule 2 to commemorate the occasion of Centenary year Celebration of Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad and the remedy allowed in making of such coin shall be as specified in the Second Schedule annexed to these rules. FIRST SCHEDULE [See rule 4] ONE HUNDRED RUPEES OBVERSE: This face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the centre with the legend "सत्यमेव जयते" inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word "भारत" in Devanagari script and on the right periphery with the word "INDIA" in English. It shall also bear the Rupee symbol "₹" and denominational value "100" in the international numerals below the Lion Capitol. REVERSE: This face of the coin shall bear the image of the building of Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) Dhanbad at the centre of the coin. The year "1926-2026" in international numerals shall be inscribed below the image. On the upper periphery of the coin, the inscription "भारतीय प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान (भारतीय खनि विद्यापीठ) धनबाद" and "शताब्दी समारोह” shall be written in Devanagari script. On the lower periphery of the coin, the inscription “INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (INDIAN SCHOOL OF MINES) DHANBAD” and “CENTENARY CELEBRATION” shall be inscribed in English.
